The Student Assessment Guide and Learning Plan describes the evidence required to be competent in this unit. 

You can track your progress by comparing it against unit requirements and at every stage of your learning and study. You can also get support from your iTAFE mentor and adviser.

Study Guide

There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Maintain work health and safety. The sessions outlined below are a suggestion only - you may have another way that you prefer to study.





 
Session 1 - Identify hazards (Blue tiles) This includes:
  • WHS Regulations 2011
  • WHS Act 2011
  • Workcover NSW
  • Safe work Australia
  • Identifying hazards/potential hazards
  • Risk management
  • Hierarchy of risk control

To consider for  your blog:


  • What strategies could an Education and Care Service have in place to ensure they are identifying risks?

Session 2 - WHS policies and procedures (pink tiles)


  • Interpreting the WHS Regulations 2011
  •  Interpreting WHS Law 2011
  •  WHS policies and procedures
  •  Ensuring policies and procedures are followed
  •  Maintaining WHS incident records


A few points to think about for your blog:
  •  If you were a Director, how would you provide WHS policy and procedure information to the team?
  •  As Director, how do you ensure the team are following correct policies and procedures?
  •  What WHS incident records should be kept to ensure legislative requirements are met?




Session 3 -  Support consultation and communication (Purple tiles)


  • WHS consultations procedures
  •  Reporting WHS issues in line with legislation
  •  Encouraging team members to contribute to WHS

A few points to think about for your blog:


  • How could you encourage team members to contribute to WHS?
  • Would you like to attend some online courses for this unit?
